I have completed a greetings card based on the original artwork ‘Memories’ and hope I have the right balance between nostalgia and funkyness. The words on the reverse read, “An ornament. A rose bowl ornament, which always sat on her dressing table. It isn’t precious. It isn’t even beautiful. It was just always there. And now that she’s gone, I have so many questions. Was it a wedding present, given with love in an age of austerity? Did she open it with joy when she came of age? Did it travel with her to a hot and thirsty land so she could remember a softer, greener place? The history is lost. The vase remains, reminding me of her dignity, fortitude and love.”
